Ingalls Bragg, came here from Andover, Essex, Massachusetts, USA, in 17 95 with a family of seven children. He was one of the original proprieto rs of the town of Andover, Oxford, Maine, USA, and one of the earliest set tlers. He drew Lots 14 and 15, Range 1, West side of the Ellis river. B uilt a camp on No. 14 near the line of 14 -- in 1803 with Silvanus Poor wh ere both lived while they were felling the trees, clearing up their farm s, and putting up small buildings for their families. He then moved his f amily here, or, but first his second daughter, Eliza came and kept hou se or camp for him in summer. After mills were build, he put up large a nd commodious buildings, and made good farms. As a man he was a high-mind ed, honorable man, a good neighbor, friend, townsman, and citizen. Held m any offices under the proprietors of this town. (Copied from The Andov er Memorials by Agnes Blake Poor).

Frye's regt .; company return dated Cambridge, Coos, New Hampshire, USA Oct 6, 1775; a lso, list of men (p.432) who received money from the public treasury for l osses at battles of Lexington and Bunker Hill; allowed in Council, June 1 3, 1776.

"Timothy, son of Edward, married Lidia Gott on 2/24/1685. (Ipswich Marria ge Records). He was a surveyor and said to be a man of influence in Ipswi ch. He is listed as contributing money toward the purchase of a bell to u se to call meeting together. Prior to the purchase of the bell, meetin gs were called by blowing a horn."
Her information regarding his children came from New England Gen. & His. M ag. Vol. 56, O. 342
"In his old age, (Edward) deeded his farm to his son Timothy, by an instru ment that bound Timothy to plow each year an acrea of flax for him, care f or the garden spot in front of the door, furnish a horse, 60 sheep, 60 bus hels of Indian corn, 20 bushels of malt, 15 bushels of wheat and rye (call ed Misalings), 6 barrels of cider, 10 bushels of winter apples and summ er apples as needful. It further stipulated that he should improve 50 ro ds yearly, also if Edward's now wife sees good to live a half year at sa id dwelling after decease of said Edward, said Timothy shall carry h er to meeting on the Sabbath and lecture days if she so desires it."

Eunice was short, rotund, with short grey curly hair and looked a lot like her brothers, Martin and Levi in the face though built more like her mother. She smoked a corn cob pipe, or a clay pipe, sometimes. After dinner she would go out on the porch and sit on a straight kitchen chair, light up her pipe and puff away. Zada said she and her brother were always fascinated. "Imagine!! Seeing a WOMAN smoke!!"
It may be that Eunice was married to someone by the name of Knight also. Zada remembers a Eunice Owen Knight visiting her parents.

---WILLIAM SPENCER OBITUARY d. October 22, 1908 [Posted by Sara Nuernberger on Mon, 01 May 2000 on Taylor Co, WI GenWeb site] "Wm. SPENCER Laid to Rest Sunday amid Many Evidences of Respect. The funeral of William SPENCER who died last week Thursday was held from the M. E. church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. D. R. DUNN, assisted by Rev. S. W. INGHAM officiating. The G. A. R. of which the deceased was a member, and the W. R. C. each attended the body. Altho the weather was threatening, a large number of friends gathered to pay their last tribute to a much respected citizen. Wm. SPENCER was born at Louisville, Kentucky, February 8, 1848. When war broke out, altho too young to regularly enlist he gave his services in different ways until 1864 when he joined Co. H. of the Fourth Kentucky cavalry. Soon after the war he came to Wisconsin and was married to Miss Margaret BRAINARD at Whitehall. In the early eighties he moved to Medford, and for a long time was section foreman and was often given charge of the W. C. R. R. work train. Later he started a dray line, which however, he turned over to his sons in order to again take charge of R. R. construction crews. He was a quiet unassuming man who was never heard to say a word against anyone. Altho not aspiring to public office, he was a number of years alderman from the second ward until he moved to the third. He scarcely knew a sick day until about two years ago when malignant growth that caused his death first made its appearnce, but even to the end, and during the severest suffering he showed the courage of the true soldier that he was and bore it all with patience. Besides a wife, seven children survive him; two, Mrs. Clara SEVERANCE and Edna MAY having preceded him to the other shore, Mrs. H. KENNEDY, of Kenton, Mich, Fred SPENCER, Spokan Wash., Wm. SPENCER, Jr., Mrs. R. D. LYTLE, Tacoma, Wash., Lawrence SPENCER, St. Paul, Ralph SPENCER, St. Paul and Ruth SPENCER. "

Mrs. Margaret Adelaide Spencer, 75, a resident of Tacoma for 23 years died Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dick W. Long at 3921 North 37th Street, after several weeks illness. Besides Mrs. Long, she leaves two daughters, Mrs. R. D. Lytle and Mrs. Hugh Kennedy of Tacoma; sons, Fred of Yakima, William of Tacoma and Ralph of San Francisco; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Christian Science Church and was a native of Wisconsin. Her body is at Tuell Mortuary.

---WILLIAM SPENCER OBITUARY d. October 22, 1908 [Posted by Sara Nuernberger on Mon, 01 May 2000 on Taylor Co, WI GenWeb site] "Wm. SPENCER Laid to Rest Sunday amid Many Evidences of Respect. The funeral of William SPENCER who died last week Thursday was held from the M. E. church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. D. R. DUNN, assisted by Rev. S. W. INGHAM officiating. The G. A. R. of which the deceased was a member, and the W. R. C. each attended the body. Altho the weather was threatening, a large number of friends gathered to pay their last tribute to a much respected citizen. Wm. SPENCER was born at Louisville, Kentucky, February 8, 1848. When war broke out, altho too young to regularly enlist he gave his services in different ways until 1864 when he joined Co. H. of the Fourth Kentucky cavalry. Soon after the war he came to Wisconsin and was married to Miss Margaret BRAINARD at Whitehall. In the early eighties he moved to Medford, and for a long time was section foreman and was often given charge of the W. C. R. R. work train. Later he started a dray line, which however, he turned over to his sons in order to again take charge of R. R. construction crews. He was a quiet unassuming man who was never heard to say a word against anyone. Altho not aspiring to public office, he was a number of years alderman from the second ward until he moved to the third. He scarcely knew a sick day until about two years ago when malignant growth that caused his death first made its appearnce, but even to the end, and during the severest suffering he showed the courage of the true soldier that he was and bore it all with patience. Besides a wife, seven children survive him; two, Mrs. Clara SEVERANCE and Edna MAY having preceded him to the other shore, Mrs. H. KENNEDY, of Kenton, Mich, Fred SPENCER, Spokan Wash., Wm. SPENCER, Jr., Mrs. R. D. LYTLE, Tacoma, Wash., Lawrence SPENCER, St. Paul, Ralph SPENCER, St. Paul and Ruth SPENCER. "
