Came to American on the "Susan and Ellen".
Peter Bulkeley was a graduate of St. John'sin Cambridge where Puritanideas were being generated. He succeeded his father as Rector of theChurch of All Saintsin Odell, Bedfordshire in 1610. In 1634 as aresult of Archbishop Laud's campaign against Puritans, Bulkeley wassuspended. He brought his family to Massachusetts Bay Colony on the"Susan and Ellen" from London in 1635. In the autumn of 1635 he boughta tract of land six miles square at Musketquid from the indians. Bulkeleyand a man named Reverend John Jones organized a church in 1636 withJones as pastor and Bulkeley as a teacher. Unfortonatey, the logicaldisputes common to many colonial towns caused Jones to leave in 1644for Fairfield Connecticut where his daughter Sarah married Bulkeley'sson Thomas. Eventually under Bulkeley's leadership Concord began toprosper.During this time he wrote "The Gospel Covenant" that was thefirst religous book of any importance written in New England and oneof the first American books to be published.

BOOK - RIDEOUTS IN AMERICA
Charles William Rideout, resided the greater part of his life in Bowdoin,Maine, then he went to Harpswell for 17 years, moving back to Brunswick,Maine. As a young man he worked with his Uncle Johnson Rideout learningthe ship carpenter trade. While working there he met with an accidentwhich injured his knee, that crippled him for life. He was DeputySheriff in Bowdoin, Maine for four years. At the close of the Civil War,he was Postmaster. In the last years of his life, he worked asashoemaker. At this time he was a neighbour to the famous Rev. ElijahKellog and greatly enjoyed the friendship of that celebrated author andpreacher.
Although not identified with any church, he was a man of deep religiousinstincts and was a man of most upright character emboyding in hispersonality those Christian virtues that commanded the respect and loveof all who knew him.

Peter Allen was a loyalist and received in 1842 at age 79 (listed as dead) in York County New Brunswick for Revoluionary War service. Dorcas Allen received relief in 1842 at age 52 in York County< NB for being a widow of Revolutionary War Veteran. Source is Old Soldiers Lists, relief fund of Feb 1843. Published by Secretary's Office, NB 17 March 1843. (nothing on her Madien name).
Peter was a farmer.
Peter joined the New Jersey Volunteers 4th Battalion Loyalist Army. He was wounded in an engaement at a place called "The Burnt Meadows" on Staten Island. He came to NB in 1783.
He lost his discharge papers when his house was destroyed by fire. He never received any land from the Crown so he petitioned the house of assembly because at age 76 he was in very indigent circumstances and unable to labor and asked for relief.

Johnson was the son of Stephen Rideout and Abigail Smart. He was theking of Bath, Me., Shipbuilders. He was a member of the early firedepartment and the civil government. He was a son of a Bowdoin farmer.Hebegan his career as a day laborer in the shipyard of Peleg Talman. Hebegan building ships in 1825 and master builder of 72 vessels andaccumulated a fortune of $100,000. His son, Johnson, was probably themost skillful Bath designer of wooden ships. Some of his ships wereLafayette, Princess, Powhattan, Rideout, Ironsides, Prince of Wales, Cityof Bath, Mermaid, Bristol, Liverpool, Queen Victoria, N. Carolina, S.Carolina, Harriet Augusta, Sea Queen, Glove, Tremonton, Lynos, Norway,Amazon, Saxon, Charlotte, Alice. This information was sent by hisgranddaughter, Margaret Foote.

Medway - Norma O. Tedford, 86, died Monday, October 18, 2010 at a Lincoln health care facility. She was born October 5, 1924 in Stacyville, the daughter of Marvin and Georgie (McGrath) Allen. Norma was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She will be remembered by many for her cooking abilities at several area restaurants through the years. Norma is survived by seven children, Patricia Ammons and her husband Richard of Shelton, Washington, Gail Trueworthy and her husband David, Gloria Dow and her husband James, Brian Tedford, Richard Tedford, Ronald Tedford and his wife Lynda, and Joseph Tedford and his wife Diane, all of Medway; a son in law, Bruce Killam of Tewksbury, Massachusetts; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Allen Tedford, a daughter, Roberta Moran, a grandson, Bobby John Trueworthy, two brothers, Floyd and Lester Allen, and five sisters, Hepsi Adams, Hazel Langley, Leola Hayes, Mildred Carter, and Marion Brackett. Friends are invited to visit with the family 1-3 P.M. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where funeral services will begin at 3 P.M. Interment will be at the Grindstone Road Cemetery, Medway. Gifts in memory of Norma may be sent to the charity of one's choice.
