East Millinocket - Earl C. Brewer, 77, died in a Millinocket Hospital, Oct. 5 and a long illness. He was born in Medway, July 25, 1896, the son of John and Ethel (Clark) Brewer. He was employed with the Great Northern Paper Co. as a truck driver until his retirement in 1961. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the First Baptist Church of Millinocket. Survived by wife mrs. Effie (Vance) Brewer of Millinocket, two sons Lee and Gerald both of East Millinocket, two step-daughters Mrs Laura Hamm of East Millinocket and Mrs Mary Pelkey of Jacksonville, Fla., one brother Jerry of East Millinocket, one sister Mrs Beatrice Hersom of Bath. 23 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren. several nieces and nephews.

EAST MILLINOCKET - Gary D. Brewer, 80, passed away Dec. 15, 2012, surrounded by his family at a Boston hospital. He was born Nov. 13, 1932, in East Millinocket, son of Jerry and Pearl (Thompson) Brewer.He attended East Millinocket schools and graduated from Schenck High School in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, served in the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. After returning home from the service he married his high school sweetheart, Marion E. White of Millinocket. He worked for Great Northern Paper Co. as an electrician while they raised three children together. He was a devoted husband and father. He was constantly and tirelessly helping his friends and family with just about anything; yard work, electrical work and never hesitated to lend a hand with home repairs or a building project. In 1968, he purchased a camp lot on Ambajejus Lake and with the help of friends and family, built a camp that to this day is enjoyed by his extended family. After his retirement he enjoyed fly-fishing at Nesowadnehunk Lake and playing golf. He had many friends and relatives in the East Millinocket and Medway area, who visited him often. There was always a spot at the kitchen table for anyone who stopped by. He was predeceased by his wife, Marion; brother, Glen Brewer; and sister, Mona King. He is survived by and will be deeply missed by his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Suzanne Brewer; daughter, Linda Sprague; daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Garry Peabody; grandchildren, Kristen Bowden and husband, Matthew, Andrea Morin, Daniel Brewer, Tyler Peabody, and Cassandra Peabody; and great-grandchildren, Grace Bowden, Carson Bowden and Ryder Bowden. He will also be missed by his companion of the last 16 years, Lillian Nisbett; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was employed with the Great Northern Paper Co. as a truck driver until his retirement in 1961. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the First Baptist Church of Millinocket. Survived by wife mrs. General Notes: Husband - Harold Edward Ned Murray
HAROLD E. MURRAY EAST MILLINOCKET – Harold Edward "Ned" Murray, 91, died at a Lincoln healthcare facility on Sunday, May 9, 2004. He was born Feb. 7, 1913, in Millinocket, the son of Walter and Louise (Noddin) Murray. "Ned" graduated from Stearns High School in 1932, and for years remained an avid fan of the Stearns Minutemen. He and Ruth began their married life in Bristol, Conn., where he worked for New Departure, a division of General Motors. His 37 years of employment by Great Northern Paper Co. was prefaced by times working in the woods as a lumberjack and for the CCC's during the 2nd World War. He spent most of his years at Great Northern as an electrician and power plant operator. Ned served several terms as president of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He remembered with pride those conferences where terms of the impending contract were negotiated, most notable the health care benefits enjoyed by retirees to this day. Ned and Ruth raised four children at their home on Birch Street in East Millinocket. He served his community as a member of the school board and the budget committee, worked with fellow workers to open the Eastmill Federal Credit Union, and served as Treasurer of the Senior Citizens in East Millinocket. A member of the First Congregational Church of East Millinocket, he served as a trustee, diligent in his efforts to contribute to the church building's upkeep. Ned received recognition for his 50 years as a member of the Nollesemic Lodge on his 90th birthday in 2003. Ned and Ruth enjoyed 29 years of retirement in their home on Birch Street, a lifelong goal achieved through his skillful planning and more recently, aided by a community of caring individuals. Ned enjoyed years of competition as a member of the Sno Rovers Pitch Club. His passion for hunting and fishing led him to long hikes to the Deep Cove camp at Ambejejus Lake, as there were no roads back then. He also had many trips by canoe up the East Branch of the Penobscot to the Soldier Brook camp. There were countless trips to Katahdin Brook, where the fish would not fit the fishing basket. Ned also had a love for the many dogs he had over the years. He leaves his wife of 67 years, Ruth N. (Nichols) Murray of East Millinocket; three surviving children and their spouses, Margie and Ronald Wheaton of Millinocket, Peggy and Richard Owens of Litchfield, N.H., and Bobby and Linda Murray of Windsor, Conn. He will be fondly remembered by his seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. At 91 years of age, he survived his siblings and the majority of in-laws and friends, with the exception of close relatives to include Leonard and Geraldine Wallace of East Millinocket, and Charlene Eaton of Yarmouth. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave., East Millinocket, where Lodge No. 205 AF & AM will conduct a Masonic memorial service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Thursday, May 13, 2004, at the First Congregational Church of East Millinocket, with the Rev. Mark Pilletere officiating. Graveside committal services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at East Millinocket Cemetery. Alexander was a L.L.D. educator, lecturer, editor, mechanical andelectrical engineer, inherited the physical characteristics of the men ofthe Pine Tree State. In 1864-64, he served with the 110th Ohio Regimentof Volunteers under Colonel J. Warren Kiefer in the Shenandoah Valley.At the close of the war, he became a student and instructor at theOberlin College in Ohio. After his marriage, he went to Hillsdale,Michigan, where he established the Hillsdale Business College, which ayear later, became the Commerical and Telegraphic Department of OberlinCollege. He remained there for thirty years as a teacher of CommercialLaw,Political Economy and Telegraphy. He was a member of the AmericanInstitute of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and of the George H.Thomas Post of G.A.R. He was a member of the Disciple Church and wasnamedfor the leader of that denomination and for many years waspublisher and editor of the Hillsdale College Herald.

'Gates and Allied Families' gives the birth and death, no source, but gives the place of death as New London, Connecticut. It says he came in 1621 on the 'Fortune' and 'evidently m. 1st at Leyden an unknown wife who was buried there May 10, 1619, and who may have buried a child there November 27, 1610.' Duane Josephson's 'Emigrant Ancestors' says she was Betje (Betja) (Babnits) Rabnitz and that they were married before 1610. However, he'd be only 17 years old. 'The Great Migration...' gives the source of his birth as 'Mayflower Descendant 1:7, doesn't give his death nor mention a first marriage and gave the source of his marriage to Lucretia Oldham as 'Mayflower Descendant' 1:8. The LDS IGI has 17 marriages, all with LDS proxy sealings since 1993, so no source information available. There is one, married 1610 Leiden, LDS proxy sealing 10 Sep 1988 SEATT, form submission, 8810905 31 film 1553177.
