William Longsword (died December 17, 942) was jarl (ruler) of Normandy.
Little is known about his early years. He was born overseas in one of t
he many Viking territories before his father Rollo settled in northern Fra
nce. William's mother was named Poppa; all that is known of her is that s
he was a Christian, and the daughter of a Count Berengar. According to t
he Planctus, he was baptized a Christian.
William succeeded Rollo sometime around 928. It appears that he faced a re
bellion early in his reign, from Normans who felthe had become too Franki
fied. The following years are obscure. In 939 William became involv
ed in a war with Arnulf I of Flanders, which soon became intertwined wi
th the other conflicts of the reign of Louis IV of France. He was kill
ed by followers of Arnulf while at a meeting to settle their conflict. H
is son Richard I of Normandy succeeded him.

Don Petro de Solice was born in Spain. He was previously married and hadtwo children - Frederico and Pilar. He travelled all over the US andabroad serving numerous terms in the Consular Service. Don Pedro servedas Consul-General many times in New Orleans. He also served in Cuba,Canada, and Florida.
As a family friend, Don Pedro was introduced to Josephine by her father.He asked Sieur de Vresse for Josephine's hand in marriage. She was thenmuch younger than de Solice. He served for the last time asConsul-General in New Orleans, when he died in 1901. He and Josephinehad no children by their marriage.
Do Pedro de Solice was well loved and respected by all who knew him. Hisdate of birth is not known.
General Notes: Wife - Josephine Gillette Devresse
Josephine was married to Dr. Frederico Sahuque', a dentist. He left forSan Pedro Sula, Honduras to open a dental clinic and send for his wifelater. Seven years later, Dr. Sahuque' died of tropical fever, which wasrampant at the time. Neither his remains or personal effects wereallowed to be shipped to the United States. Josephine had his will anddeed to the plantation he bought while in Honduras. This was confiscatedby the government. Josephine was a widow at 23 years of age. They had achild (Alice Rose Sahuque'), then seven years old at the time.Josephine returned to her parents home with her daughter.
