Knighted before 1322, he fought at Boroughbridge, March 16, 1231/32 and
was taken prisoner. He was released from imprisonment in Pevensey Castle
on October 16, 1326 and on April 4, 1327 was made Joint Custodian of the
deposed King Edward II. He was tried by a jury of Knights as an accessory
to the murder of the deposed King as was acquitted.

Thomas, 3rd baron, married 1st, Margaret, daughter of Roger Mortimer,
Earl of March, and 2ndly, Catherine, daughter of Sir John Clyvedon, widow
or Sir Peter le Veel. This lord having adhered to the interest of the
Queen, Mortimer, and PrinceEdward, afterwards the third of that name,
furnished "the only precedent," says Smith, "of a peer being tried by
knights, as the peers would have been both judges and jurors." He first
assumed a mitre for his crest. He was summoned to parliament from 1329 to
1360. He had issue by his 1st wife, besides his heir, three sons, who
d.s.p., and one daughter, Joan, wife of Sir Reginald Cobham; by his 2nd
wife, had had, with three sons, who d.s.p., a 4th, John, ancestor of the
Berkeleys of Beverstone. He died 1361 and was succeeded by his son,
Maurice, 4th baron.

English Admiral. He suceeded to his father's estates in 1376, and took a prominent part in the coronation of Richard II and in 1380 was appointed commissioner to regulate the royal household. He was also made admiral of the West and won a signal victory over the French off Margate in 1387. He became a leader of the barons in their opposition to Richard and in 1387 the king retaliated by having his judges declare Arundel's commission illegal. In the following year he returned with much booty from La Rochelle. he quarreled with John of Gaunt and joined his brother, the archbishop of Gloucester and Warwick in a conspiracy agaianst the king. After discovery, Arundel surrended and was executed.

English Soldier. He succeeded to the title in 1331 and six years later was made commander against Scotland and later placed in sole command. In 1340 he was created admiral by Parliament. He was present at Sluis and at the seige of Tournai. He commanded a division at the Battle of Crecy and was afterward sent on diplomatic missions to Scotland and France. In 1355 he was regent of England. Little is known of his later years.

my immediate lineage, and even that is worked on by many

The best way for me to describe the relationship, is for
example if you have 6,000 people in your data base
that are connected via interlocking marriages, and
you find that you have a marriage that is interlocked into
one of my people in my data base, then they are related
via interlocking marriages, does not matter how distant.
The difference here is that the interlocking into my data
base would link to over 631,749 people via interlocking
marriages.
My hobby is working on interlocking marriages,to any
family surname that is in my data,and I exchange with
people to find them,and to assist them in finding lineage
that link into their families.
