General Notes: Husband - Sir Knight Robert Wingfield Sir
I exchange data with people who have a interlocking marriage
into any surnames that interlocks into any of the branches
of my families.I started when I was 10 years old now 68years.
I am sharing my data in the interest of collaborative research.
I do this to help people to find there lineages and to fill
the pedigree charts.
I have not personally researched all families listed; dates
and information are subject to verification. Not responsible
for typographical errors misplaced citations. Missing
sources/references are because of my learning curve, not my
intention. You are encouraged to seek further documention
for your own confirmation.Further I have no control what
other people include about their families in any of the
data that they exchange.
If there are no dates about the living, then the computers
can not determine if the person is alive or deceased.
The sites set the living anywhere from 75 to 100 years
depending on the laws of the countries that they are in.
When I exchange with lineages the living are sometime shown
depending on who you are exchanging with, but my
request is that,if you update any of my data to the
internet, you also set the do not show the living, before
you update to the internet.
Also place in the source your contact email
address, and the lineage, so people can contact you
reqarding your update.
I have no claim to owning the data, except that which is
my immediate lineage, and even that is worked on by many
members of my family lineages. It is only as good as what
people put into it,that exchange with me. So look
in the notes of the genealogy for origin, if they put it
there,or the source.
If you are going to correct, update or put new branches on the
lineage your are inquirying about, please do not add from what
I have sent you,(This just duplicates how many more people
I have to find in the duplicates and merge them, edit your
notes to ensure that there is nothing there that you do not
want published.
Also do not submit information on copyrights that invades the
privacy of others especially for a relative that has not given
you permission to publish same.
Remember nothing is carved in stone except time.
The best way for me to describe the relationship, is for
example if you have 6,000 people in your data base
that are connected via interlocking marriages, and
you find that you have a marriage that is interlocked into
one of my people in my data base, then they are related
via interlocking marriages, does not matter how distant.
The difference here is that the interlocking into my data
base would link to over 631,749 people via interlocking
marriages.
My hobby is working on interlocking marriages,to any
family surname that is in my data, and I exchange with
people to find them, and to assist them in finding lineage
that link into their families.

the pedigree charts.

He is listed on the 1860 census for his parents as Russell E. I believe this to be an enumerator's error.
The LDS IGI has the following birth for Roswell E. Hamilton extracted from public records:
21 JUN 1858, Civil, Cumberland, Cumberland Co., Maine. Parents: Robert Hamilton & Betsey G.
The same record also states that he died 06 JUN 1861.
Note that he had a namesake uncle (his father's brother).

"Stone Sloops of Chebeague" (1949), chart p. 108, notes that he was called
"Harry". Page 111 states that he married Mary Ross. Page 91 lists him as
a captain of the Stone Sloop "Stephen Orr".

General Notes: Child - Lovisa Jane Hamilton
I initially identified the wife of Michael Mansfield on the following basis:
"Stone Sloops of Chebeague", chart, p. 128, lists Michael's wife as "Lovisa Jane Hamilton" without identifying her parents. The Hamilton chart on p.114 lists a "Louis" (birthdate not given) among the children of Alonzo S. Hamilton. No spouse is listed for Louis. I suspected that "Lovisa" was a typo for "Louisa". Nowhere in all the genealogies in this book is there an occurence of the male name "Louis", so Alonzo's child, I reasoned, could very well actually be a female - Lois or Louise or Louisa. A child of Alonzo would be just about the same age as Michael Mansfield, so I thought my reasoning had a high degree of probability. However, on 19 Oct 2003, I received the following email from Henrietta Leonard, M.D.(HLeonard@Lifespan.org):
. "The Stone Sloops of Chebeague is a good start, but it is not a primary soure and is inaccurate in many places.
. I have asked friends on Chebeague who were the parents of Lovisa Jane Hamilton. (her name really was Lovisa and not Louisa). They have replied with the following information:
. Lovisa Jane Hamilton is the daughter of Capt. Robert Clark Hamilton, Jr., Jan 14, 1830 to Feb 20, 1906, and Betsey Gowell, Apr 12, 1831 to Jan 30, 1920, both buried in the Chebeague Island cemetery, married Nov 25, 1851. She is their seventh child, Oct 28, 1867 to March 14, 1948, buried Chebeague Island cemetery. The chidlren of Michael Morse Mansfield and Lovisa are Cora
Luetta, Aug 15, 1887, Stella Mabel, Nov 29, 1893, and Arthur, Dec 1895.

General Notes: Child - Nancy Luetta Hamilton
"Stone Sloops of Chebeague", chart, p. 128. Her parents are not identified and there is no listing for her on any of the Hamilton charts.

History of Sanford, Maine 1661-1900
William Gowen, Junior, known as "Master" Gowen, was the son of Stephen and Molly (Powers) Gowen. In his boyhood he was afflicted with asthma that he could do no hard manual labor, and therefore concluded to prepare himself to be a school master. He was educated in the public schools of Sanford, at Fryeburg (?) Academy, and at his own fireside. He was always a close student, even after reaching a mature age. He began teaching in town not far from 1800, and continued for some thirty years. In winter, occasionally he taught evening school for business men to learn penmanship and book-keeping. In summer he carried on his farm and garden, having a fine garden for the times, with all kinds of vegetables and "garden-sause" in their seasons. He had a good orchard of apple and plum trees. He built his own house, finished three rooms before his first marriage, and made nearly all of the furniture and household utensils used. His paint was red ochre, obtained from the Red Brook. "Master" Gowen was never more than comfortable circumstances, as he never received more than ten dollars a month teaching, and could never carry on heavy farming.
He was a member of the school committee four years, and was reelected in 1826, but was excused from serving.
"Master" Gowen was married three times: First to Olive Witham, October 1808; after her death in 1811, to her sister Mary, daughter of Jonathan and Lydia Witham; third, to Sarah H. Witham, cousisn of the two preceding, who survived him nearly forty years. When his first andsecond wives died, he prepared their gravestones with his own hands, from flat stones, even to the cutting of the names. In person, he was of medium height, spare, light complexioned, with gray eyes, light hair and whiskers. He was a rigid moralist and a member of the Baptist Church. When the church was without a minister, he often conducted meetings on Sunday reading a printed sermon.
