Onund had a son called Ingjald, and at that time Yngvar was king of the di
strict of Fjadryndaland. Yngvar had twosons by his wife -- the one call
ed Alf, the other Agnar -- who were about the same age as Ingjald. Onund
's district-kings were at that time spread widelyover Sweden, and Svipd
ag the Blind ruled over Tiundaland, in which Upsal is situated, and whe
re all the Swedish Things are held. There also were held themid-winter sa
crifices, at which many kings attended. One year at midwinter there w
as a great assembly of people at Upsal, and King Yngvar had also come the
re with his sons. Alf, King Yngvar's son, and Ingjald, King Onund's son, w
ere there -- both about six years old. They amused themselves with child
's play, in which each should be leading on his army. In their play Ingja
ld foundhimself not so strong as Alf, and was so vexed that he almost cri
ed. His foster-brother Gautvid came up, led him to his foster-father Svipd
ag the Blind, and told him how ill it appeared that he was weaker and le
ss manly than Alf, King Yngvar's son. Svipdag replied that it was a gre
at shame. The day after Svipdag took the heart of a wolf, roasted it on t
he tongs, and gave it to the king's son Ingjald to eat, and from that ti
me he became a most ferocious person, and of the worst disposition. When I
ngjald was grown up, Onund applied for him to King Algaut for his daught
er Gauthild. Algaut was a son of Gautrek the Mild, and grandson of Gaut; a
nd from them Gotland (Gautland) took its name. King Algaut thought his dau
ghter would be well married if she got King Onund's son, and if he had h
is father's disposition; so the girl was sent to Sweden, and King Ingja
ld celebrated his wedding with her in due time.

Roots: Brian of the Tributes (Boru, Borama and Boroimhe), King of the Dalcassians, then King of Munster, 976-1002, and finally usurped the high kingship of Ireland, 1002-1014. Killed at the Battle of Clontarf, 1014, while fighting a mixed force of Norse and Leinstermen. (Brian's amcestry table depends solely on tradition and is not accepted as proven. The ancestors listed by Young are different from those in Roots. Have used Young's line.) K&Q calls him Brian Boru, High King of Ireland from 1002-1014. According to K&Q he had another son, Teige (Terence) who died in 1023 and apparently was succeeded by his brother, Donnchad, that year. One of Teige's descendants, some 30 generations down, was Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, who married King George the VI and is the mother of Queen Elizabeth II. And, according to Roots, Dictionary of National Biography and several other sources, Brian and another wife, through a daughter Slani, were ancestors of a a distinguished Welsh line.
