Samuel Fogg came with John Winthrop in 1630, settled in 1638 or soon afterward in Hampton. He was a farmer. He bought his homestead of Christopher Hussey, a farm lately known as the Anthony Emery place. He had other land by grant and purchase. In 1669 he drew one hundred acres, which have remained in possession of his descendants to the present time, never having been deeded. He married (first) October 12, 1652, Anne Shaw, who died December 9, 1663, daughter of Richard Shaw. He married (second) December 28, 1665, Mary Page, daughter of Robert Page, of Hampton. She joined the Hampton church, May 29, 1698, and died at Hampton, March 8, 1699-1700, aged fifty-six years. Children by first wife, born in Hampton: Samuel, born December 25, 1653; Joseph, March 25, 1656; John, July 15, 1658; David, June 16, 1660; Mary, May 1, 1662. Children by second wife: Seth, November 28, 1666; James, April 8, 1668; Hannah, April 6, 1670.

Deacon Samuel was a grantee of Sanborton and was one of a committeeappointed nov. 10, 1748 to lay out the town. Oct. 2, 1748 he drew lots 7and 70. He lived in Hampton but later moved to Exter as it is recordedhe was dismissed to the church in Exter in 1735. In 1745 he was in KingGeorge's War in Captain Nathaniel Drake's Company. In 1746 he is aRepresentative, Prov. New Hampshire from Exter. 1747-1749 he wasselectman of the town. June 7, 1776 he signed the Association test inNorth Hampton, New Hampshire. He was appointed to clear a "good baggageway 5' wide from Wineposoco R. to the Mill grant for 4 pounds each day."Joined the congregational Church by profession on feb. 25, 1727-28

Seth was one of the Selectman of Hampton in 1704; on a grand jury in1700. According to records, Seth received six pounds to be paid to himby the oldest brother out of the estate, left to him. as was the custom.But his wife, the granddaughter of Roger Shaw, a large landowner may haveinherited some acres in her own right. Seth was living on the Fogghomestead, which probably meant he acquired some rights from Samuel, hisbrother, when he left for New Jersey in 1697.
