Né au hameau Guerré le 08 mars 1685, Jacques Guéret, fils de René et de Madeleine Le Vigoureux, recevait le baptême à l'église paroissiale de Canchy, canton d'Isigny, arrondissement de Bayeux, département du Calvados, pays du bon vin,en Basse-Normandie, France. Canchy possède les ruines d'un château de l'époque d'Henri IV. Au-dessous d'Isigny coule la rivière Aure-intérieure qui se déverse dans la Vire pour glisser ensuite dans vers la Manche par la Baie des Veys.Canchy est situé tout prêt d'Omeha Beach où les alliés effectuèrent un des débarquements les plus évocateurs de l'ère moderne, le 4 juin 1944.
Arrière-petit-fils de Nicolas, Jacques était petit-fils de Jean Guérey et de Françoise de Mont-mirel.
Or, Françoise, fille du seigneur Jean de Méhérenc du Montmirel, laissa à ses descendants ses titres de noblesse Du Mont Mirel, surnom abrégé du présent ancêtre, nom de famille de ses descendants canadiens : Dumont. Le manoir de Monexiste toujours. Il est situé à vingt kilomètres de Canchy dans la communede La Cambe également dans le canton d'Isigny.
